how do you know about my site?: i think 'dopamine fracking' got linked by Eric Bailey sometime

hiya, loved the post on dopamine fracking! it reminded me of the anthropologist Anna Tsing's work with Donna Haraway about how we're living in the "plantationocene" (like the anthropocene but more specific) characterised by plantation logics and the way they strip out humanity in the name of profit. there's a great chat with them both here: https://edgeeffects.net/haraway-tsing-plantationocene/ and if you want a longer-form exploration of this kind of thing I can heartily recommend Tsing's The Mushroom at the End of the World. maybe dopamine fracking is one form of the plantationocene! :D

I was brought here by Dopamine Fracking, a piece that well captures a concept I have struggled to express. Grateful for that!

how do you know about my site?: a friend shared it with me

Hey man, I just wanted to say thanks for sharing your thoughts. Appreciated reading your post on "dopamine fracking". Nice to know more people out there feel the same - You've put into words what I've wondered about since 2019; mostly around the misuse of technology... but you're right that this also has to do with relationships and the experiences we'd miss from being "Fracked" for dopamine. It's linked, right? On that note, I noticed a lot more people have been making neocities websites, with their own personal touch. It's nice to see there are still pockets of the internet with some realness to it. So true what you said about strawberries and the beauty of these experiences. Also I was eating a mandarin orange as I typed this. Om nom, love those wondrously imperfect little mandarins. :-)

Absolutely amazing article on dopamine fracking, something I've also thought about, tho I called it "optimizing the fun out of everything" - your term is much more expedient and rancid in its imagery (which is a good thing) Cute fursona btw!!

Enjoyed reading the dopamine fracking post while eating a mango I bought, peeled and cut with my own hands. Thanks for giving me a word to put on the phenomenon you described!

Great writeup about dopamine fracking. More of us have been expressing similar emotions recently and everyone's been getting tired of the current state of the web. Glad to see someone engaging more with the "small web" philosophy.

Hey there, thanks a lot for your article on Dopamine Fracking. Really resonated with me as I was a bit stuck thinking about why a lot of the things nowadays feel less real and natural. Felt like I did not find an solution, but at least a better description of what I was feeling - which is a starting point. So thank you! <3
